The Birmingham-Hoover metro area is well known throughout the state for its thriving housing market. And, measurements recorded from January only prove this area’s continued growth and housing market resurgence.
Residential sales totaled 736 units in the first month of the year in the Birmingham metro area, a 16% improvement over the same period in 2014, reports the Greater Alabama MLS. Of the homes sold, 11% were newly built homes, much like those available in the Ross Bridge community.
Additionally, housing supply in January dropped to 8.4 months, compared to the 10.8 months in January of last year. The lower number is indicative of a more balanced housing market, and is even more impressive when compared to the 18.3 months of housing supply observed in January 2009. According to the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE), the “Birmingham Metro Area is one of the most balanced markets in Alabama during the month of January and throughout 2014.”
With news as promising as this for our first month of 2015, it’s safe to say local real estate experts and homebuyers alike are feeling confident for the year ahead!
