Every summer, a few thousand people come together to enjoy cocktails, live music and food at the Birmingham Museum of Art. The Birmingham Museum of Art collaborates with local businesses and artists to bring three nights of the best of Birmingham’s rich culture.
Ross Bridge’s Homeowners should mark their calendars because the next Art on the Rocks event is coming up quickly- taking place on July 10th. Art on the Rocks is one of the most successful social events in Birmingham and this year will be celebrating its 11th anniversary. There will be five new things to look for this year at AOTR.
One new feature are the massive murals by an Atlanta artist that tells an important story of the struggle African Americans faced on their journey through slavery to freedom in the south. More new features include chances to become a VIP member to get special perks and an #AfterRocks after party at some favorite local bars so the fun doesn’t have to end.
The biggest new attraction is the Food Truck Fare. The BMA is transforming their parking lot into a food truck connoisseur’s dream. When you enter, you’ll receive a token that credits towards menu items at each truck. After you’ve had a chance to fill your stomach, it’s time to enjoy some great music. The featured artists for July are called The Shadowboxes, a soul pop trio from Atlanta. While you’re having the time of your life, you can’t forget to capture these moments. Luckily, another new feature this year involves a fun new way of memory keeping. Instead of regular photo booth photos, animated party pictures will be offered at AOTR.
The Art on the Rocks event runs from 7pm-11pm and tickets are $25 general admission. However, joining in on this notorious social event with friends and family is priceless!
