The results are in: Birmingham Realtors have something to smile about! That is, if improving Alabama and Birmingham home sales make you smile!
Month to month numbers fluctuated slightly, but the incredible year over year improvements in the Birmingham housing market are indisputable. According to the Birmingham Association of Realtors (BAR) and the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE), the number of residential sales reached 808 in November, bringing year-to-date sales up by 9.8 percent through the month. The average sales price for a home also increased by 8 percent, when compared to prices at this time in 2012. These numbers are consistent with real estate figures across the state.
And, new home sales across the nation climbed by 25 percent in October – an encouraging feat. The seasonally adjusted annual sales pace reached 444,000 units – much better than the predicted 425,000 units. It also surpasses September sales, which topped off at 354,000 units. The new sales pace supports the notion that the new-homes market is gaining momentum and could very well push even more economic recovery. Overall, the outlook for 2014 remains positive!
