With the seemingly constant stream of praise the Birmingham Metro housing market received last year, we had every reason to believe the final month in 2014 would be no different – and we were right! December continued the positive patterns as home sales grew to end 2014 on a high note, making 2015 the year to buy a new home in the Birmingham-Hoover market!
The Birmingham Association of Realtors (BAR) reported an incredible 952 homes sold this past December, compared to the 887 in December 2013. This type of growth is especially encouraging to see this late in the year when it’s typical for prospective homebuyers to take a break during the holidays. Year-over-year, BAR also reported a 5% increase in home sales in 2014, as well as a healthy increase in average sold price. Increases in prices indicate a recovering economy as homes regain their value in the market.
