Highlights of 2013

The year 2013 flew by in the blink of an eye – who knew 12 months could pass so quickly? The nation as a whole made huge strides towards economic normalcy, as did the state of Alabama. Specifically, the housing market and the city of Birmingham impressed industry experts and economists a like. So, what were some of our favorite highlights from 2013?

Alabama Real Estate Confidence Index Trends Upwards – 1/31/13
What a great way to start off the year! The Alabama Real Estate Confidence Index (ARECI) measured an increase in confidence levels for the state, which encouraged homebuyers seeking new homes. This promising news certainly set the pace for the rest of the year!

Birmingham Home Sales Continue to Rise – 4/19/13
It came as no surprise when home sales continued their rise through April. The growing confidence in the market and the growing demand for homes provided a steady push in home sales. Following the increase in sales was a healthy boost in home prices.

Birmingham Has a Lot to Celebrate As The New “All-America City” – 6/17/13
Just this past June, the city of Birmingham received some incredible news. The National Civic League had named our beloved town an “All-America City”. This new title agreed with what Ross Bridge residents already know – the Birmingham-Hoover area is a great one to live in!

Birmingham Metro Sales Jump by 20%! – 7/8/13
Maybe it had something to do with our new title, but in July of 2013, metro area sales jumped by an incredible 20 percent! This was a significant improvement from a year prior and proved the early predications about 2013 to be true. With our Ross Bridge community nestled in a Birmingham metro, this was very much welcomed news!

Birmingham Receives Praise from Southern Living – 8/8/13
The praise continues! Birmingham was recognized by Southern Living Magazine in August, attracting even more people to our charming city. Southern Living noted the thriving music, restaurant, and historical scenes to be a few of the major draws.

Hoover Approves $130 Million City Budget – 12/2/13
And finally, to end the year on a positive note, the Hoover City Council approved a $130 million budget for the 2014 fiscal year. This new budget will allow Hoover to improve damaged roadways, further education, and bring a new fire station to our Ross Bridge community! With an incredible year in real estate accomplishments, the Birmingham-Hoover area and the Ross Bridge community are so excited to see what 2014 will bring!
