June 13: Will Yarbrough Band at the Hoover Public Library
This Thursday stop by the Plaza and Reading Room of the Hoover Public Library to hear the Will Yarbrough Band perform their blues and soul tunes, before hitting the road to tour. They’ll perform music from their soon-to-debut album. Music begins at 6:30 pm. For additional details, click here.
June 14: Free Friday Flicks at Veteran’s Park
This Friday, plan a picnic dinner with your favorite Ross Bridge friends and neighbors and head over to the Veteran’s Park for a free family-friendly movie. This Friday will be a screening of Escape from Planet Earth, rated PG. Food and drinks will also be available from select vendors, as well as some fun activities. The movie will start at dusk. June 16: Father’s Day at Vulcan Park and Museum
Still trying to decide what to do for Father’s Day this weekend? Why not start by taking a trip to the Vulcan Park and Museum. The museum will be offering all dads discounted admission in celebration of Father’s Day. Currently exhibiting is A Place of Our Own: The Fourth Avenue District, Civil Rights, and the Rise of Birmingham’s Black Middle Class. This exhibition, which marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1963 Birmingham Civil Rights Movement, is on display until September 30th. A Place of Our Own illustrates how the Fourth Avenue District grew into the cultural center of Birmingham’s African American community through artifacts, oral histories and photographs. June 18: Tuesday Night Street Market at Pepper Place
If you’re a new homeowner in the Hoover and Birmingham areas, then you must check out the weekly Market at Pepper Place. New to this Saturday market is the Tuesday Night Street Market. The evening market will take place from 4 to 8 pm and will feature a wide variety of farmers, food trucks and dancing. Stop by the market on 29th Street South between 2nd and 3rd Avenues South. June 21: ZooSnooze at the Birmingham Zoo
If you haven’t already visited the Birmingham Zoo lately, why not take a trip this weekend. Members can experience the zoo nightlife like never before! Attend ZooSnooze for your chance to enjoy a live animal encounter, engaging activities, carousel rides and a one-of-a-kind night tour with your flashlight!
