As the temperatures drop and we prepare for the real estate industry’s fourth quarter, it’s become even more evident that the Birmingham metro area has maintained its impressive growth throughout the entire summer home buying season!
According to the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE), residential home sales were up 5% in Birmingham’s metro area this past August. The metro area includes Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, and Blount counties, encompassing our Ross Bridge community, which is located in Hoover, Alabama.
Residential sales in August measured in at 1,187 units for the area, which sits above the symbolic threshold of 1,000 sales per month. Not only does this number surpass predictions, it is the sixth consecutive month where the benchmark has been passed. This progress continues to encourage everyone from real estate professionals to homebuyers.
August sales numbers are preceded by successful summer months, rounding out the summer season in the best way possible! Statistics gathered by the Greater Alabama MLS indicate that the Birmingham Metro Area was “one of the most balanced markets in Alabama during the month of August.” According to the report, market balance for our area sits at 6.2 months of housing supply in August, better than the 6.7-month supply in August of last year, and much better than the August peak in 2010, when a 13.9-month supply was measured.
Not only is the housing market performing extraordinarily well, but the Birmingham area has been repeatedly praised for its diverse attractions and things to do for people of all ages. In fact, Birmingham was recently named the most exciting place in Alabama! And, the Ross Bridge community itself has also received attention in recent weeks for the Fall Community Showcase Awards.
